Etihad Rail Transports 350 Passengers Amid Travel Disruptions
Etihad Rail has successfully transported over 350 passengers from Al Ghuwaifat Station in the Al Dhafra region to Al Faya Station in Abu Dhabi in response to ongoing travel disruptions and temporary flight suspensions. This operation, conducted prior to the official launch of the rail service, aims to provide alternative travel options during this period of service interruption.
Coordination with Authorities
The operation was implemented under the direct oversight of the Abu Dhabi Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre (ADCMC). Collaborative efforts with relevant Saudi authorities were critical in ensuring the seamless integration of operational protocols, emphasizing safety and efficiency.
A structured approach was employed to manage the transportation process effectively, which included the immediate activation of established safety protocols and emergency plans to maintain secure operations throughout the journey.
Continued Freight Operations
In addition to passenger services, freight operations proceeded as scheduled, adhering to official directives. Adequate technical and human resources were deployed to ensure that logistical operations remained uninterrupted during this time.
Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, highlighted the flexibility demonstrated during this operation. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the ability to adapt institutional capabilities to meet urgent societal needs without hindering long-term operational goals or the UAE’s logistical security.
Strategic Importance of Rail Services
Al Nuaimi also underscored the significance of the UAE’s national railway network, noting its efficiency, reliability, and operational preparedness, especially in fluctuating circumstances. The swift implementation of the passenger service prior to its official launch underscores the importance of the rail system in facilitating movement and managing crises.
Additionally, Eng. Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, announced plans for further services to accommodate passenger needs during this period. He assured that operations would continue as necessary and in close collaboration with relevant authorities until regular flight schedules are restored.
