Salik PJSC Introduces Customised Tags for Dubai’s Toll System

Dubai’s electronic toll gate operator, Salik PJSC, is setting the stage for a unique customer experience by launching customised tags aimed at corporate clients. This initiative allows businesses to personalize their Salik tags with unique designs and messages, enhancing corporate branding and individuality on the roads of Dubai. The announcement made on Tuesday reflects Salik’s commitment to innovation and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Understanding Salik: A Brief Overview

Salik, which translates to "clear" or "open" in Arabic, was introduced in 2007 as Dubai’s electronic toll collection system. It relies on advanced technologies such as Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). Each vehicle traversing the toll gates is equipped with its unique Salik sticker, which facilitates seamless transactions.

How Does the Salik System Work?

As vehicles pass through any of the toll gates scattered across Dubai, the RFID technology detects the vehicle and scans the Salik tag. The toll fees are automatically deducted from the owner’s prepaid account. During peak hours, which are from 6 AM to 10 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM, the fee is Dh6, while during off-peak hours, it is reduced to Dh4. This automatic deduction ensures that drivers enjoy smooth and uninterrupted journeys without the hassle of stopping to pay tolls.

Managing Your Salik Account

Each vehicle in Dubai requires its own Salik tag, linking to a single user account held with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). While additional vehicles can be added to an existing Salik account, it’s essential that each one has its own tag. This system simplifies toll management and ensures that users can easily monitor their expenses.

Expanded Payment Options with E-Wallet

In an exciting development, Salik has announced that motorists will soon be able to use their Salik e-wallet balance to pay for fuel at selected ENOC petrol stations across Dubai. This development follows a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Salik and the Enoc Group. This innovation promises to streamline the refueling process; transactions will be automatically deducted from the user’s Salik e-wallet balance, providing a convenient cashless experience at the pump.

Seamless Payments Across Multiple Services

The integration of Salik’s e-wallet extends beyond toll payments. It already allows users to pay for parking fees at prominent locations such as Dubai Mall, Marina Mall, Souq Al Bahar, and more. This expansion showcases Salik’s aim to become a versatile financial tool for Dubai residents, providing easy and efficient payment solutions for various services.

Looking Ahead: Customer-Centric Innovations

Salik’s latest initiatives underscore the organization’s commitment to evolving with customer needs. By allowing customization of Salik tags and enhancing payment options, Salik is not just facilitating toll transactions; it’s creating a more personalized and modern experience for its users. As the initiative rolls out and further details emerge, Dubai residents and businesses eagerly await the enhancements that these innovations will bring to their everyday commutes.
