Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend Welcomes Amateur Triathletes

Date:

The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is gearing up for an exciting showcase of athleticism and community spirit as it announces the second edition of the Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend. Scheduled for November 13th to 16th, 2025, this much-anticipated event will be held in collaboration with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), and promises a thrilling experience for both professional and amateur athletes alike.

This year, the T100 Triathlon is set to be ‘bigger and better’ with expanded opportunities for participation. Amateur triathletes will now be welcomed into the fold of the exhilarating 100km race, which features a grueling 2km swim, an 80km bike ride, and an 18km run. Additionally, a Sprint distance event of 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run will be available, making the event accessible to a wider range of fitness enthusiasts.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), emphasizes that events like the T100 not only spotlight Dubai’s growing reputation in the sports tourism sector but also align with the city’s ambitions as outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. Reflecting on the success of the 2024 edition, he expressed confidence that the upcoming event will draw even greater international attention and contribute positively to Dubai’s economy.

Eisa Sharif, the Director of Sports Events at the DSC, provided further insight into the enhancements planned for 2025. “We are collaborating closely with the PTO to expand all three race categories,” he said. In an exciting addition, a Schools Event and a Corporate Relay will be introduced, fostering community engagement and promoting healthier lifestyles. This strategic move reflects the council’s vision of improving the overall quality of life in Dubai.

The inaugural T100 event made waves last year by bringing together elite triathletes, including Olympic champions, and crowning the first-ever T100 World Champions: Belgium’s Marten Van Riel and America’s Taylor Knibb. Their outstanding performances not only heightened the competition but also showcased the caliber of athletes participating in this globally recognized event.

Sam Renouf, CEO of the Professional Triathletes Organisation, remarked on the tremendous success of the 2024 Dubai T100 Triathlon, calling it a “bucket-list race” on the new T100 World Tour. He expressed excitement about the upcoming edition and the additional opportunities it will create for amateur athletes and corporate teams to engage in a festive celebration of sport around the iconic Meydan Racecourse. This commitment to inclusivity underscores the event’s aim to create a vibrant atmosphere while fostering sportsmanship and community spirit.

The T100 Triathlon World Tour has already made notable stops in cities like Singapore, San Francisco, and Vancouver, and the next race is set to take place in London this August. Each location adds a unique flavor to the tour, and Dubai is poised to shine brightly as a major highlight of the series with its stunning backdrop and enthusiastic crowd support.
