Dubai Media Secures EuroLeague Broadcasting Rights in MENA

Dubai Media has made headlines with its recent announcement to broadcast European basketball’s top-tier EuroLeague across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for the next five seasons.

This initiative marks a significant step for Emirati media, as it pledges to deliver all EuroLeague games via its flagship channel, Dubai Sports TV, on a free-to-air basis. This generous offering is poised to enhance the basketball viewing experience for fans across MENA, making the league’s thrilling action accessible to a wider audience.

The collaboration was facilitated by IMG, an international sports and entertainment agency known for handling various sports rights globally. Their expertise in securing commercial agreements ensures that both the EuroLeague and MENA audiences benefit. Under this latest agreement, Dubai Sports TV will not only broadcast all matches featuring the debuting Dubai Basketball Club but will also air a selection of the league’s most exciting games each week.

Special emphasis will be placed on fixtures that include Dubai BC, an addition to the EuroLeague this season, marking the first time a team outside of Europe has participated in the semi-closed league format. This expanded roster now boasts 20 teams, illustrating the league’s growth and its desire to engage international audiences.

Along with Dubai BC, two other teams—Israel’s Hapoel Tel Aviv and Spain’s Valencia Basket—are also joining the EuroLeague, adding fresh competition to the existing lineup that features prestigious clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich, Olympiacos Piraeus, and Panathinaikos, not to mention the reigning champions, Fenerbahce.

The excitement ramps up as the 2025–26 EuroLeague season is set to tip off on September 30, with Dubai BC playing its inaugural match against Serbia’s Partizan Belgrade at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. This highly anticipated game is sure to ignite local enthusiasm and draw attention from fans across the region.

The deal not only broadens Euroleague Basketball’s footprint in the MENA region but also emphasizes its commitment to making top-tier basketball accessible to fans. Last season witnessed the EuroLeague Final Four climax held in Abu Dhabi, further showcasing the growing relationship between the league and regional basketball culture.

Paulius Motiejunas, CEO of Euroleague Basketball, expressed appreciation for the partnership with Dubai Media, emphasizing the commitment to delivering high-quality broadcasts to engage a broader audience. “We have prioritized our strategic goal of expanding the EuroLeague into new territories, creating opportunities for more fans to experience the competition,” he noted. This agreement represents a key milestone within their broader global growth strategy.

Moreover, earlier this year, Euroleague Basketball entered into a global partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, further reinforcing the alliance between sports and cultural promotion in the region. With IMG’s recent acquisitions of broadcast rights in Spain and Italy, including collaborations with Movistar and Sky Italia, the momentum for EuroLeague’s visibility continues to build.
