Celebrating 25 Years of the Dubai Marathon: A Milestone Event

The upcoming Dubai Marathon will mark a significant milestone as it celebrates its 25th anniversary on February 1. This year promises an exciting experience for participants with its renowned fast and flat course, culminating in a grandstand finish at the Dubai Police Academy grounds.

A Route to Remember

Thanks to the ongoing support from the Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Marathon has earned a reputation for its smooth, rapid route. This event consistently attracts elite athletes and enthusiastic runners from all corners of the globe, all of whom are eager to chase their personal bests.

Participants can expect to navigate a scenic course that covers notable stretches, including Jumeirah Beach Road and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. However, this year brings some fresh changes that runners will surely appreciate, particularly the new grandstand finish set up at the Dubai Police Academy.

New Start Times

In a bid to enhance the event experience, the marathon’s start times have been adjusted. Elite marathon runners will take off at 5:45 AM, while the general marathon crowd will begin at 6:30 AM—30 minutes earlier than in previous years.

Details for the popular 10km Road Race and the 4km Fun Run will be released shortly. For those eager to learn more about the race routes and logistics, comprehensive information will soon be available on the official website, dubaimarathon.org.

Collaboration for a Better Event

Event Director Peter Connerton shared insights into the meticulous planning that has gone into this year’s marathon. “Due to ongoing developments in the city’s infrastructure, we have worked tirelessly with our colleagues at Dubai Police, RTA (Roads and Transport Authority), Dubai Municipality, and Dubai Sports Council to create a route that meets everyone’s needs,” Connerton stated.

He expressed gratitude to the Dubai Police for allowing the marathon to take place on the parade grounds of the Dubai Police Academy, which will feature a spectator grandstand, the Dubai Marathon Family Village, exhibitor stands, and live entertainment—making it a festive atmosphere for both participants and spectators.

Route Adjustments

Alongside the exciting new finish area, a few changes have been made to the marathon route itself. Runners will encounter turns at Dubai Media City and an additional 280 meters past the Mehemal Junction. Additionally, they will complete two laps on the marathon route, turning at the Burj Al Arab instead of Madinat, providing a fresh experience for returning participants.

A Record-Setting Event

The Dubai Marathon has distinguished itself as the first race in the region to achieve the World Athletics Gold Label, solidifying its status as a premier event. Known for its record-breaking conditions, strong international participation, and the prospect of welcoming a historic number of elite runners in the 25th anniversary race, this event promises not to disappoint.

Supporting Partners

The Dubai Marathon is proudly supported by a range of partners, including ASICS, Dubai Sports Council, MG Motor, Channel 4 Radio Network, ITP Media Group, Bisleri Water, Vitamin Well, Dubai RTA, Dubai Police, and Dubai Municipality, along with Ciel Dubai Marina.

This year’s marathon is not just about showcasing elite athletic talent; it’s also a celebration of community, dedication, and the spirit of sport in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a first-time participant, the Dubai Marathon is set to be an unforgettable experience.
