Dubai will host the third edition of the Foreseeing Government Audit Future Conference on October 28-29, 2026, organized by the Financial Audit Authority (FAA). The event, themed “Smart Audit,” aims to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies on government auditing and oversight.
The conference will gather senior government officials, audit professionals, governance specialists, and industry experts to discuss how AI is reshaping the audit landscape. His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Hareb, Director General of the FAA, emphasized the need for governments to adapt to rapid changes in technology and governance. “As they do, the nature of risks is changing, the possibilities offered by technology are expanding, and the requirements of governance and accountability are shifting alongside them,” he stated.
AI’s Role in Modern Auditing
The conference will focus on two main aspects of AI in auditing: modernizing audit tools and processes, and assessing the governance of AI technologies themselves. Al Hareb noted that the event aims to foster a shared understanding of the opportunities and risks associated with these emerging technologies. “Through the conference, we look forward to strengthening the exchange of knowledge and leading practices,” he added, highlighting the FAA’s commitment to enhancing the integrity and efficiency of government performance.
Key topics on the agenda include:
- Cyber Financial Auditing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
- AI in the Age of AI
- Risks and Governance of Emerging Technologies
- AI and the Future of Audit: Modernising Internal Audit for a Digital Government Era
- Auditing AI: From Risk to Confidence
These discussions will illustrate how auditing is evolving from traditional compliance roles to a more proactive function that enhances decision-making and performance across organizations.
Preparing for the Future of Auditing
A significant theme of the conference will be the necessity of equipping auditors with skills that align with the profession’s evolving demands. Future auditors will need to be proficient not only in traditional auditing but also in AI, cybersecurity, risk analysis, and performance evaluation.
Workshops and Collaborative Sessions
The conference will kick off with a preparatory day on October 28, featuring workshops aimed at improving financial closing and reporting practices in government entities, enhancing external audit quality, and fostering collaboration between audit and oversight functions. By uniting local and international expertise, the FAA seeks to promote best practices and develop a more integrated and future-ready audit ecosystem.
This initiative underscores the increasing importance of effective auditing in ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainable government performance in Dubai and beyond. For more information, visit Emirates247.
