In a major entertainment milestone for the UAE, Abu Dhabi is set to become home to a brand-new Disney Theme Park Resort, following a landmark partnership between The Walt Disney Company and Miral.
The new Disney resort will be strategically located on Yas Island, a place already celebrated for its world-class attractions, including theme parks, water parks, and entertainment venues.
This exciting development marks the seventh Disney theme park worldwide. It joins the ranks of iconic locations in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, each known for their unique blend of culture, adventure, and magical experiences.
The announcement was made in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. His presence underscores the significance of this project, which is set to elevate the emirate’s status as a top global destination for leisure tourism.
In his remarks, Sheikh Khaled expressed that the new theme park reflects Abu Dhabi’s burgeoning reputation as a premier leisure destination. Miral, a leading developer and operator of immersive experiences, will spearhead the development and operations of the resort. Meanwhile, Disney will bring its renowned expertise to the project, focusing on creative design, development of attractions, and overall operational oversight. This collaboration aims to cultivate an experience that is distinctly unique to the region.
Disney CEO Bob Iger expressed his enthusiasm, noting that this project will introduce the magic of Disney storytelling to a new audience. He described the upcoming resort as a cultural, entertainment, and technological marvel, with the potential to redefine how families experience leisure in the UAE.
