Cinema Audio Society Awards: ‘F1,’ ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ and ‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’ Shine in 2026 Ceremony
The Cinema Audio Society Awards took place on Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, recognizing outstanding achievements in sound mixing. Among the prominent winners were F1: The Movie, KPop Demon Hunters, and Becoming Led Zeppelin, each securing top honors in their respective categories.
Highlights from the Awards Ceremony
Hosted by Chris Hardwick, the evening was a celebration of excellence in sound mixing. Skip Lievsay CAS received the esteemed CAS Career Achievement Award, while filmmaker Guillermo del Toro was honored with the Filmmaker Award. The inaugural Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology was awarded to Evan Brooks, Peter Gotcher, Glenn Sanders, and Howard Stark for their significant contributions to the industry.
Mingxi Xu was also acknowledged with the CAS Student Recognition Award, which included a $5,000 prize. CAS President Peter Kurland emphasized the importance of the event, stating that the honorees exemplify the precision, creativity, and discipline that define sound mixing as a craft.
Motion Picture Winners
In the live-action category, F1: The Movie emerged victorious, showcasing exceptional sound mixing talent. The production team included Gareth John as Production Sound Mixer, with Gary A. Rizzo CAS and Juan Peralta serving as Re-Recording Mixers. Alan Meyerson CAS was the Scoring Mixer, Alan Freedman CAS handled ADR Mixing, and Dennis Leonard was the Foley Mixer.
Other nominees in the live-action category included Frankenstein, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, One Battle After Another, and Sinners, all featuring skilled sound professionals contributing to their success.
In the animated category, KPop Demon Hunters took home the award, with Howard London CAS as the Original Dialogue Mixer. The Re-Recording Mixers included Michael Babcock CAS and Tony Lamberti, while Erich Talaba served as the Scoring Mixer and Giorgi Lekishvili managed Foley Mixing.
Becoming Led Zeppelin was recognized in the documentary category, with Nigel Albermaniche as Production Sound Mixer and Nick Bergh as Re-Recording Mixer.
Television Category Achievements
In television, The Studio, Adolescence, and The Pitt were among the standout winners. The Pitt won in the One Hour Television Series category, featuring Von Varga as Production Sound Mixer and Todd M. Grace CAS as Re-Recording Mixer.
The half-hour category saw The Studio awarded for its episode titled “Golden Globes,” with Buck Robinson CAS as Production Sound Mixer and Lindsey Alvarez CAS as Re-Recording Mixer.
Future Prospects
F1: The Movie is also nominated for the 2026 Academy Award for sound, alongside Frankenstein, One Battle After Another, Sinners, and Sirat. The Cinema Audio Society has a history of recognizing films that later achieve Academy Award success; last year’s winner for live-action motion picture was A Complete Unknown, and in 2024, Oppenheimer won the top honor at the CAS Awards.
