Canon Showcases Print’s Transformative Power with Cutting-Edge Technologies at FESPA Global Print Expo 2026
At the FESPA Global Print Expo held from May 19 to 22, 2026, in Barcelona, Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA) presented its latest innovations in wide-format production technologies. The company’s booth, located at Stand 2-E20, highlighted how its customer-focused approach and advanced printing solutions can create impactful visuals that resonate with audiences and drive business success. The theme of the exhibition, “Move your World,” underscored the commercial opportunities available to specialty print businesses.
Visitors to the Canon stand experienced a curated selection of real-world applications spanning various sectors, including retail, interior décor, point of sale (POS), corrugated materials, and packaging. The showcase featured tactile applications produced using Canon’s high-performance production technologies, including the Arizona, Colorado, and imagePROGRAF printers, all displayed in an interactive sensory gallery.
Innovative Printing Solutions: The Colorado XL-Series
The event marked the European debut of Canon’s new Colorado XL-series 3.4 m printer, which demonstrated its versatility and productivity by producing both flexible and rigid media applications live. This printer extends the benefits of Canon’s UVgel technology to the 3.2 m graphics market, offering a wide range of media options. These include banners, paper, vinyl, soft signage, and various rigid substrates like foam board and acrylic.
With impressive print speeds of up to 211 m² per hour in express mode, the Colorado XL-series is designed to meet the demands of high-volume production environments while accommodating materials up to 52 mm thick.
Building Partnerships for Greater Flexibility
Canon’s success at FESPA 2026 was bolstered by a robust ecosystem of technology and media partners. This collaborative approach was evident throughout the stand, showcasing how integrated solutions can enhance customer experiences.
Among the highlights was the Colorado M-series roll-to-roll printer configured as a UVgel Factory for Wallpaper. This setup produced a variety of applications, from personalized wallpapers to wrapping papers, illustrating the extensive capabilities of mass customization. The modular solution includes a Colorado M5W printer paired with a Fotoba jumbo roll media feeder and output cutter.
The demand for customized packaging and wall coverings is on the rise, and the Canon UVgel Factory for Wallpaper offers a wide array of possibilities, from traditional wallpapers to short-run personalized décor elements.
Advanced Production Techniques with AI Tactile Studio
Canon also hosted a series of “AI Tactile Studio” sessions during the expo, where experts demonstrated how users could create unique tactile prints using Canon’s latest technologies. These one-on-one demonstrations showcased a streamlined workflow that encourages creativity and innovation in print production.
Streamlined Workflows with PRISMA XL Suite
Supporting the print demonstrations was Canon’s PRISMA XL Suite, an open and flexible workflow solution designed to integrate seamlessly with existing systems. This suite enables print service providers (PSPs) to achieve first-time-right prints and simplifies production processes, even for complex jobs. Canon’s software partners, including OneVision and Onyx, were also present to illustrate how a non-proprietary approach to workflow can enhance operational flexibility and profitability.
Visitors had the opportunity to explore Canon Imaging Supplies’ wide-format media portfolio, which supports applications ranging from signage and posters to textiles and backlit displays. This range of products helps PSPs deliver consistent, high-quality results while offering sustainable media options, including PVC-free large format graphic media.
Insights from Canon Leadership
Tushar Vaishnavi, Business Unit Director for B2B at Canon CCNA, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting PSPs and packaging converters in making informed decisions about technology and partnerships. He noted that the stand was designed to reflect the core business priorities of decision-makers, highlighting new commercial opportunities and strategies for future-proofing their businesses. Vaishnavi stated that the diverse applications showcased at FESPA provided clear evidence of the exciting future of large format print and packaging.
In addition to its presence at FESPA, Canon served as a Gold Sponsor at the co-located Corrugated 2026 exhibition. Visitors had the chance to engage with Canon’s corrugated experts and learn about the company’s advanced technologies in this sector.
Cutting-Edge Technologies for the Corrugated Market
At the Corrugated 2026 exhibition, Canon showcased its next-generation digital corrugated press, the corrPRESS iB17. This press combines high-end graphic quality with industrial productivity and flexibility, utilizing water-based inks and 1200 dpi resolution printheads. It is capable of producing up to 8,000 sqm/h on sheet sizes up to 1.70 × 1.30 m, making it suitable for efficient, scalable digital production.
Additionally, Canon presented current printing solutions for prototypes, mock-ups, and ultra-short runs of printed corrugated packaging, including the Arizona series of true flatbed printers and the UVgel Factory for Packaging based on the Colorado M-series printer.
