Four hospitals operated by Burjeel Holdings have been recognized in Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals & Clinics for Medical Tourism 2027, underscoring the group’s significant role in the UAE’s healthcare landscape. This recognition highlights Burjeel’s commitment to specialized healthcare, particularly in Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, and Cardiac Care, as it aims to enhance the UAE’s reputation as a global medical tourism destination.

Among the nine institutions acknowledged in Abu Dhabi, three belong to Burjeel Holdings, which accounts for one-third of the recognized facilities in the emirate. Additionally, Burjeel Specialty Hospital in Sharjah has also received accolades, showcasing the group’s extensive network and expertise in specialized care.

Recognized Facilities and Specialties

Burjeel Medical City, the flagship facility of Burjeel Holdings, has been recognized for its excellence in Orthopedics. Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi earned accolades for its Ophthalmology services, while Burjeel Royal Hospital in Al Ain was recognized for its Cardiac Care. Furthermore, Burjeel Specialty Hospital in Sharjah received recognition in both Cardiac Care and Orthopedics, reflecting the group’s comprehensive healthcare offerings.

This recognition is part of a broader assessment conducted by Newsweek in collaboration with Statista, which evaluated over 25,000 hospitals worldwide. The rankings consider various factors, including recommendations from medical professionals, patient experience, and the quality of international patient services.

Commitment to Healthcare Excellence

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman and CEO of Burjeel Holdings, emphasized the importance of this recognition, attributing it to the UAE’s visionary leadership in prioritizing healthcare excellence. He expressed gratitude for the support from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, which has played a crucial role in enhancing healthcare standards in the region. “This achievement belongs to our doctors, nurses, and every member of the Burjeel family,” he stated, highlighting the collective effort behind this milestone.

The recognition aligns with Burjeel Holdings’ ongoing Burjeel 2.0 transformation strategy, which aims to bolster clinical capabilities and enhance patient experiences. This strategy includes investments in advanced medical technologies and the establishment of specialized clinical programs, such as the Burjeel Orthopedic Institute and Paley Middle East Clinic, which attract international patients seeking advanced orthopedic treatments.

Future Aspirations in Medical Tourism

As Burjeel Holdings continues to advance its specialized care capabilities, the recognition from Newsweek serves as a catalyst for attracting more international patients to the UAE. The group’s commitment to developing advanced clinical capabilities not only enhances its service offerings but also strengthens the UAE’s position as a premier global healthcare destination.
