Boursa Kuwait Strengthens ESG Commitment with Release of Fifth Sustainability Report for 2025

Kuwait City: Boursa Kuwait has unveiled its fifth Sustainability Report, detailing its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance for the year ending December 31, 2025. This report marks a significant milestone as sustainability disclosures in the Kuwaiti capital market evolve from voluntary practices to mandatory regulatory requirements.

The report aligns with a comprehensive set of internationally recognized frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Standards for the Exchanges and Commodity Markets sector, and relevant elements of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) requirements. It also incorporates Boursa Kuwait’s ESG Reporting Guide and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhancing comparability and consistency with global trends in leading capital markets.

Noura AlAbdulkareem, Head of Markets Sector at Boursa Kuwait, emphasized that the report signifies a continuation of the company’s mission to enhance transparency and foster a culture of responsible market conduct. She noted that sustainability has become crucial for assessing investment merit and building trust with investors and stakeholders. As Kuwait’s official stock exchange, Boursa Kuwait is committed to developing a mature disclosure ecosystem while supporting listed companies in advancing their governance, environmental, and social responsibility practices.

The 2025 Sustainability Report is particularly timely, coinciding with Capital Markets Authority Circular No. 4 of 2025, which mandates “Premier” Market companies to prepare and publish sustainability reports for 2025 and disclose them on the Boursa Kuwait website by the end of the second quarter of 2026. Boursa Kuwait reaffirms its commitment to early compliance with this requirement and its role in establishing a benchmark for institutional disclosure.

The report also aligns with the updated edition of Boursa Kuwait’s ESG Reporting Guide, which serves as a framework to assist listed companies in preparing their reports according to best practices, thereby enhancing transparency and responsiveness to investor expectations.

AlAbdulkareem further stated that Boursa Kuwait’s ongoing publication of sustainability reports reflects a robust disclosure strategy that transcends mere regulatory compliance, setting a standard in the field. This proactive approach includes the publication of sustainability reports, the provision of guiding frameworks, and support for listed companies in enhancing their disclosure practices.
