Exciting New Development: Bora Bora Café Coming to Shreveport

In a thriving corner of Shreveport, Louisiana, the owner of the recently vacant Maxwell’s Market building has announced plans to transform the space into a vibrant Bora Bora café. Bassam “Simon” Hasan, who purchased the property located at 4861 Line Avenue, has confirmed that the agreement has been finalized, setting the stage for a fresh dining concept that aims to elevate the local culinary scene.

Hasan, who has been a familiar face in the Shreveport and Bossier area, expressed his optimism about the project. With an anticipated start date for renovations within the next month, the community can look forward to a unique dining experience unlike anything currently available in the area.

A Unique Culinary Offering

Bora Bora is not just another café; it embodies a refreshing blend of flavors and ambiance. Currently, the closest existing Bora Bora location is in Chicago, with additional spots in states like Michigan, New York, and Florida. With this upcoming establishment, Shreveport will be the proud home of its very first Bora Bora café, a fine addition to the local gastronomy landscape.

The café will focus on providing a range of delectable sweet and savory items that echo the tastes of Middle Eastern cuisine while incorporating a modern twist. Hasan notes that while there are many smoothie shops in the area, none compare to what Bora Bora has to offer.

A Diverse and Unique Menu

The Bora Bora menu is exciting and varied, heavy on refreshing drinks and sweet treats, but also featuring savory dishes that cater to a diverse palette. One star menu item is the "Beirut" smoothie, which combines an assortment of whole fruits with strawberry and mango juice blended with Lebanese cream, topped with nuts and honey. Such vibrant offerings signal that patrons can expect not just a meal but an experience with every visit.

On the sweet side, customers will be able to indulge in an assortment of crepes, waffles, and the unique “Croffles”—a novel waffle sandwich, sure to tantalize taste buds. For those seeking something more decadent, the "Dubai chocolate waffle," featuring a delightful combination of Belgium chocolate, pistachio filling, and a drizzle of pistachio sauce, promises to be a standout choice.

Savory options will not disappoint either, including Croffles loaded with olives, cucumbers, feta, or grilled Halloumi cheese, all topped off with fresh mint—a delightful burst of Mediterranean flavor.

An Eye-Catching Design and Environment

As the renovation plans take shape, there were initial concerns about needing to elevate the building’s roof to meet Bora Bora’s décor standards – a costly overhaul that could delay the project. Fortunately, these hurdles are seemingly resolved, allowing Hasan to proceed with the architect, who is set to pull permits shortly.

The aesthetic appeal of the café will be as important as the menu, with a more upscale décor intended to create a warm, inviting environment for patrons. Hasan’s vision reflects a commitment to both quality and design that promises to enrich the dining experience.

Anticipated Timeline for Opening

Looking ahead, Hasan hopes to have the Bora Bora café ready for customers by November or December of this year. This timeline suggests an urgent desire to bring something new and exciting to the city—a sentiment echoed by Hasan when he remarked, “I just thought it would be something good for the city.”

As the project progresses, local residents can keep an eye on the transformation of the building that once housed Maxwell’s Market, anticipating its new incarnation as a hub for delightful food, refreshing drinks, and community gathering.

With Bora Bora’s innovative offerings and Hasan’s dedication to bringing a taste of the exotic to Shreveport, the future looks bright for the culinary landscape in the region.
