### Dubai’s Exciting “Our Summer is Sporty” Initiative
The Dubai Sports Council has kicked off its vibrant “Our Summer is Sporty” initiative, a dynamic effort to boost community engagement in sports running through the end of August. This program introduces a plethora of diverse sporting events across various locations in Dubai, designed to attract participants of all ages and backgrounds. From exhilarating competitions to fun recreational activities, the initiative promises to enhance Dubai’s reputation as one of the most active cities globally.
### A Unique Array of Activities
This initiative is not limited to conventional sports. Instead, it features an exciting range of activities that include the groundbreaking Snow Duathlon—Dubai’s first-ever event of its kind—indoor mall races, and snow cycling competitions. Spearheaded in partnership with national institutions and sports event organizers, the initiative represents a groundbreaking step toward fostering a culture of physical activity in the emirate.
### Snow Sports Extravaganza
One of the most thrilling aspects of this initiative takes place at Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates. Here, a lineup of innovative snow sports events will be hosted, starting with the inaugural Snow Duathlon on June 29. Enthusiastic participants can look forward to engaging in snow yoga, snow walking, fitness classes tailored for women and families, and open challenges, all conducted in a professionally supervised environment designed for safety.
Among the standout activities are adaptive skiing options for People of Determination, a senior citizens’ snow walk, and a dedicated summer ski camp. The unique “Snoga,” or snow yoga, which recently saw significant participation, adds a novel twist to winter sports, taking place in a cool -4 degrees Celsius indoor environment.
### Adventures in the Mountains
For those seeking outdoor thrills, Hatta will play host to a variety of mountain-based sports events overseen by the Supreme Committee for Overseeing the Development of Hatta. This beautiful location will offer mountain hiking, trail running, kayaking sessions, and yoga retreats, alongside indoor sports sessions in air-conditioned facilities to ensure comfort and enjoyment even in the summer heat.
### Water Sports Fun
With the allure of the sea, Dubai’s Jumeirah beaches and waterfront areas will be the backdrop for a series of invigorating water sports events. Expect kayaking, stand-up paddling, and wakeboarding experiences, all geared towards both beginners and seasoned athletes. Additionally, the Dubai International Marine Club will host an Open Water Sports Day, featuring surfing and kayaking, while the Dubai Sailing and Yacht Club will organize summer sailing races, providing a memorable nautical experience.
### Indoor Running Challenges
Taking advantage of Dubai’s renowned shopping destinations, a range of indoor running races will be conducted throughout several malls, allowing participants to enjoy a climate-controlled environment. Upcoming mall races include venues like Dubai Hills Mall on June 28 and July 13, City Centre Mirdif on July 6, and the Mall of the Emirates on August 3. This format presents an exciting avenue for running enthusiasts to stay active regardless of the scorching summer temperatures.
### Inclusive Competitions and Camps
The initiative also fosters inclusivity through specialized training programs aimed at various community segments, including women, senior citizens, and People of Determination. Women’s fitness classes, football, and basketball tournaments are designed to encourage participation, along with activities tailored for older adults. There will also be children’s camps featuring multi-sport training in swimming, gymnastics, and skating, supervised by certified coaches to ensure a safe and enriching experience.
### A Thriving Sports Calendar
In addition to the extensive range of activities, the initiative features a packed sports calendar with events like the World Curling Masters Tour at Dubai Ice Rink on July 4, Fight Night Boxing Championship at The Crafty Fox on the same day, and a wrestling championship scheduled for July 19. There will also be opportunities for cycling and scooter competitions at the Meydan track, various men’s football and basketball tournaments, enhancing the breadth of options available.
### Collaboration Across Sectors
The success of the “Our Summer is Sporty” initiative is underpinned by robust support from both public and private sector organizations. In partnership with specialized local and international sports organizers, events are set in fully equipped venues like Hamdan Sports Complex and Dubai Sports World, ensuring that participants enjoy a premium sporting experience.
### Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle
This initiative aligns with the Dubai Sports Council’s broader vision to embed physical activity into the daily lives of both residents and visitors. All events promise to meet high safety standards, with further activities anticipated in the weeks ahead. The Dubai Sports Council wholeheartedly invites everyone in the community to join in and embrace the opportunities for active engagement throughout this exciting summer program.
