IHG Hotels & Resorts has embarked on an inspiring initiative by partnering with the Al Noor Training Centre for People of Determination in Dubai. This collaboration aims to promote inclusivity and provide valuable opportunities to students of determination, aligning perfectly with IHG’s mission to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Through hands-on learning experiences, this initiative represents a significant leap towards integrating these students into the workforce while underscoring IHG’s commitment to social responsibility and empowerment.

An exciting aspect of this partnership is IHG’s adoption of a classroom at the Al Noor Training Centre as part of its innovative Initiatives under the Adopt-a-Class program. This endeavor showcases IHG’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and education. Over the duration of this one-year partnership, IHG will engage in the development of these students by providing essential volunteer opportunities and real-world workplace experiences.

The collaborative efforts can also be seen through IHG’s broader objective to enhance the lives of 30 million people by 2030, as part of its Journey to Tomorrow responsible business agenda. By directly participating in the lives of these students, IHG is setting a powerful example of how corporations can contribute to societal betterment and community well-being.

The classroom inauguration ceremony at Al Noor Training Centre was a heartwarming event attended by senior members of Al Noor’s board alongside IHG leadership. Managing Director Haitham Mattar took time to interact with the students, experiencing firsthand the vibrancy of their learning environment. The adopted SAIE Emerald Class caters to 10 students of determination, providing critical training to help them transition seamlessly into the workforce and become empowered members of society.

This sponsorship is structured to focus on several paramount areas critical for the students’ success, including transportation for internships, specialized staffing, and vital therapeutic services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, vocational training, and vision rehabilitation. These resources not only enhance learning but also ensure that the students receive comprehensive support, equipping them for successful employment and community integration.

Haitham Mattar passionately expressed, “We are honoured to continue and deepen our partnership with Al Noor which began last year, and be a part of the meaningful work they do. Our commitment extends beyond financial support, and we want to enable our employees to engage directly with students, contribute their time and skills, and help create a more inclusive society.”

As part of this ongoing collaboration, IHG plans to facilitate various volunteer initiatives throughout the year. Employees will play an active role, with up to 20 staff members participating in a special corporate volunteering day. This engagement goes beyond mere support, allowing employees to assist students within the IHG facilities and encompassing departments like reception, housekeeping, dining services, and administration.

Moreover, this partnership presents incredible opportunities for internships and employment for the students at the Al Noor Training Centre. Ranjini Ramnath, Director of Al Noor, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We are delighted to welcome IHG as one of our Adopt-a-Class partners. Their contribution will significantly enhance the quality of services we provide and offers our students real-world experiences essential for long-term inclusion.”

The Al Noor Training Centre for People of Determination has served as a beacon of hope and support for individuals with disabilities for over 40 years. This charitable organization is dedicated to providing education and vocational training, empowering students with the essential skills needed to live independently. Through its various programs, Al Noor has made a lasting impact on the community, break down barriers and promote inclusivity for people with special needs.

A key to Al Noor’s sustained success lies in its strong partnerships with corporate entities, including IHG. These collaborations enable the Centre to maintain and expand its valuable programs, providing future generations with the best resources and opportunities for growth. By fostering relationships with corporate sponsors, Al Noor continues to lead the way in offering specialized services tailored to the needs of individuals with disabilities, equipping them to navigate an increasingly competitive world.

This partnership between IHG Hotels & Resorts and the Al Noor Training Centre exemplifies a focused effort to foster inclusivity for students of determination. By offering hands-on learning opportunities and development experiences, this initiative empowers individuals with disabilities to transition into the workforce and achieve greater independence.

With operations heavily supported by corporate sponsors and donors, Al Noor Training Centre currently assists over 220 students, each reaping the benefits of comprehensive educational and vocational training programs. These initiatives not only cultivate essential skills but also bolster the students’ self-confidence and independence, ultimately preparing them for a future where they can actively contribute to society.

In continuing its mission, Al Noor is steadfast in advancing the cause of inclusion, working tirelessly towards a world where individuals of determination are celebrated, valued, and empowered.
