Macron secures additional 200,000 tonnes of diesel monthly from UAE and Bahrain

Published:

French President Emmanuel Macron has secured an additional 200,000 tonnes of diesel per month from the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, according to the French presidency. This agreement, announced during Macron’s Gulf tour, includes a commitment of approximately 100,000 tonnes from the UAE and a similar amount expected from Bahrain later in the day.

These new commitments are part of France’s broader strategy to enhance its energy security amid ongoing global supply challenges. With the additional supplies from the UAE and Bahrain, along with commitments from Saudi Arabia, France’s total diesel commitments now stand at 295,000 tonnes per month, which accounts for just over 10 percent of the country’s diesel consumption.

The Elysee Palace emphasized the importance of these agreements in bolstering France’s energy resources, particularly as Europe continues to navigate the complexities of energy supply chains in the wake of geopolitical tensions. The move is seen as a significant step in strengthening France’s energy partnerships in the Gulf region.

As Europe seeks to diversify its energy sources, these commitments from Gulf nations highlight the growing importance of Middle Eastern energy supplies in the global market. The agreements are expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing France’s energy needs in the coming months.

For further details, refer to Gulf Times.

In light of these developments, the implications for energy policy and international relations in the region will be closely monitored as France continues to strengthen its ties with key Gulf states.
