ISCA and IMDA Launch AIxAccountancy to Equip 60,000 Accountancy Professionals with AI Skills Over Three Years
SINGAPORE – On July 3, 2026, the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) unveiled the AI Fluency Programme, AIxAccountancy. This initiative aims to empower professionals in accountancy and corporate finance with essential skills to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) effectively and responsibly in their workplaces. The programme aligns with ISCA’s goal of upskilling 60,000 professionals in the sector over the next three years.
AIxAccountancy: A Groundbreaking Initiative
AIxAccountancy marks the first training programme developed through IMDA’s collaboration with professional organizations under the National AI Impact Programme (NAIIP). This initiative seeks to train 100,000 non-technical professionals to become AI bilingual within three years. Prior to its official launch, over 20,000 individuals from various sectors, including tertiary students, expressed interest in the programme, highlighting a significant demand for AI skills. The Accountant-General’s Department plans to integrate AIxAccountancy into the training for all 4,000 public sector finance and internal audit officers. The programme will be offered free of charge to ISCA members who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents, including students.
Flexible Learning Structure
AIxAccountancy is designed to provide a flexible and structured online learning experience, allowing professionals to learn at their own pace without disrupting their personal and professional commitments. The programme consists of two progressive phases:
- Phase 1 focuses on foundational AI knowledge applicable to common workplace tasks, such as creating AI-enabled workflows for financial statement analysis. Participants will gain hands-on experience with various AI tools and develop the confidence to integrate AI into their daily work.
- Phase 2 emphasizes the application of AI in role-specific workflows across accounting, finance, auditing, taxation, and related fields.
Upon completing both phases, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, a digital badge, and Continuing Professional Development Education (CPE) hours. The digital badge serves as a verifiable record of AI proficiency, enhancing participants’ credibility in the job market.
Advanced Modules for Management Professionals
Professionals in or aspiring to management positions can enroll in additional modules focused on AI implementation after completing the initial phases. These modules are tailored to equip them with the skills necessary to lead the responsible adoption of AI and drive transformation within their organizations.
AI Nexus: A Collaborative Learning Hub
As part of AIxAccountancy, participants will gain access to AI Nexus, a dedicated platform for accountancy and corporate finance professionals to exchange insights, resources, and best practices related to AI adoption. AI Nexus allows participants to experiment, prototype, and develop their own AI-assisted workflows in a sandbox environment, directly addressing real industry needs. The platform also facilitates connections with peers, technology providers, and educators, fostering collaboration on new use cases. Regular sessions featuring insights from leading accountancy firms and AI tool providers will further enhance the learning experience.
Statements from Industry Leaders
Mr. Lee Boon Teck, President of ISCA, emphasized the importance of AI fluency in the accountancy profession, stating that professionals who become AI bilingual will be better positioned to combine their accounting expertise with AI capabilities. He described AIxAccountancy as a national initiative aimed at transforming the profession and enhancing the value accountants and finance professionals can deliver to businesses and society.
Mr. Ng Cher Pong, CEO of IMDA, noted that AI’s impact is maximized when it is grounded in domain expertise. He expressed optimism about the partnership with ISCA, which aims to equip professionals with both AI skills and the ability to apply them effectively in their daily work.
Mrs. Chia-Tern Huey Min, CEO of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, remarked that AIxAccountancy is timely, given the ongoing transformation of industries through AI. She highlighted the programme’s alignment with the refreshed Skills Framework for Accountancy, which integrates AI fluency across various job roles, equipping professionals with the practical skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing landscape.
Commitment to Ethical AI Adoption
The launch of AIxAccountancy underscores the commitment of ISCA and IMDA to guide the accountancy profession through the AI era. By providing accessible learning opportunities, practical experimentation, and community collaboration, ISCA aims to accelerate AI adoption while ensuring that professional judgment, ethics, and trust remain central to the role of accountants in an increasingly AI-driven business environment.
