Sajaa Logistics Complex Strengthens Regional Supply Chain as Strategic Hub with Capacity Exceeding 850,000 Containers

Sharjah: The Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority (SPCFZA), in collaboration with Gulftainer, has made significant strides in enhancing logistics connectivity through the development of the Sajaa Logistics Complex. This facility, which spans over 3 million square feet, is designed as a fully integrated multimodal platform that connects the emirate’s ports with its airports and industrial zones. It is projected to handle more than 850,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually.

Enhancing Trade and Logistics Corridors

The Sajaa Logistics Complex is a pivotal element in the trade and logistics corridors that link Sharjah with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and regional markets. It aims to create more efficient and resilient transportation routes, thereby accelerating cargo movement and reducing transit times. This integration is crucial for connecting production centers, distribution hubs, and consumer markets, further solidifying Sharjah’s role as a strategic gateway for trade and logistics services in the region.

Strategic Location and Connectivity

The complex is strategically located to serve as one of Sharjah’s key logistics hubs. It facilitates seamless connectivity between Khorfakkan Port, Port Khalid, Hamriyah Port, and Kalba Port, along with various industrial zones and commercial centers. This comprehensive operational platform enhances the efficiency of import, export, and re-export activities, allowing businesses to operate more effectively.

Sharjah’s integrated ports ecosystem extends from Port Khalid and Hamriyah Port on the western coast to Khorfakkan Port and Kalba Port on the eastern coast, which overlooks the Gulf of Oman. This geographic advantage significantly boosts Sharjah’s competitiveness and strengthens its connectivity with local, regional, and international markets.

The logistics hub is also in close proximity to Sharjah International Airport and several major airports across the UAE, which further enhances the integration of maritime, land, and air transport. This proximity offers flexible and efficient operational options tailored to the diverse needs of various economic and commercial sectors.

Future connectivity to the UAE’s national railway network through the Etihad Rail project will further enhance Sharjah’s logistics capabilities. This integration of maritime, land, air, and rail transportation will support the sustainable growth of the trade and logistics sector.

Advanced Infrastructure for Growing Trade Volumes

The initial phase of the Sajaa Logistics Complex includes a storage capacity for 15,000 TEUs, part of a broader expansion strategy aimed at progressively increasing operational capabilities. The complex features state-of-the-art infrastructure, including modern warehouses, operational yards, and integrated logistics facilities. These elements support storage, handling, and redistribution activities, enabling the complex to accommodate increasing trade volumes while efficiently serving both local and regional markets.

A significant operational feature of the complex is its dry port facility, managed by Gulftainer. This facility leverages the company’s extensive regional and international expertise, enhancing operational efficiency and facilitating the seamless flow of cargo across supply chains.

A Valuable Addition to the UAE’s Logistics Ecosystem

The SPCFZA has emphasized that the Sajaa Logistics Complex aligns with the emirate’s vision of developing advanced logistics infrastructure, which is in line with the UAE’s broader objectives of strengthening trade and supply chains. The project connects seaports, airports, industrial zones, and advanced transportation networks through a modern operational platform.

According to SPCFZA, the complex is a significant addition to the UAE’s transport and logistics ecosystem. It enhances supply chain resilience, improves trade flow efficiency, and further establishes Sharjah as a key gateway for trade and supply chains. The development also opens new avenues for investment and growth for local, regional, and international businesses, bolstering the UAE’s global competitiveness and reinforcing its status as a leading hub in the international trade and logistics landscape.

Integrated Operating Environment for Businesses

The Sajaa Logistics Complex provides a fully integrated operating environment for businesses across the transportation, warehousing, distribution, and logistics sectors. By leveraging its strategic location and direct links to seaports, airports, industrial zones, and key transport networks, the complex enhances operational efficiency. It reduces logistics costs, shortens transit times, and facilitates the seamless movement of cargo.
