Dubai Shines in ‘Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ as Film Strengthens Emirate’s Global Media Hub Status

Dubai has emerged as a prominent backdrop for international cinema with the global release of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Key scenes from the film were shot in Dubai, highlighting the emirate’s appeal as a leading destination for film and television production. This collaboration involved the Dubai Media Council and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), reinforcing Dubai’s status in the global media landscape.

Collaborative Efforts Enhance Dubai’s Creative Economy

The film represents a significant initiative led by the DET to foster the growth of Dubai’s creative economy. Filming took place under the auspices of the Dubai Media Council and was supervised by the Dubai Film Development Committee, which was established to advance the film sector in the region. The film premiered globally on Prime Video on May 20, 2026, marking a notable addition to Dubai’s cinematic offerings.

Filmed in early 2025, Ghost War utilizes Dubai’s unique combination of futuristic architecture, diverse landscapes, and top-tier production facilities to craft an engaging espionage thriller. The film stars John Krasinski in the titular role, alongside Sienna Miller, Wendell Pierce, and Michael Kelly, who previously appeared with Krasinski in the Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series.

Statements from Key Officials

Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, emphasized Dubai’s commitment to becoming a premier film production hub. She stated that the emirate is increasingly favored by global productions due to its world-class infrastructure, creative talent, and efficient production processes. Al Marri noted that projects like Ghost War play a crucial role in expanding Dubai’s global footprint and enhancing its creative economy.

His Excellency Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Chairman of the Dubai Film Development Committee, highlighted Dubai’s reputation as a source of creativity and innovation. He remarked that the collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios not only solidifies Dubai’s status as a prime filming location but also showcases the integration of entertainment, tourism, and culture. Kazim reiterated the commitment to nurturing the global entertainment ecosystem while promoting Dubai’s dynamic appeal.

Streamlined Processes for Film Production

The Dubai Film Development Committee, led by Kazim, is focused on simplifying filming processes and coordinating with various government entities and industry stakeholders. This initiative aims to ensure that international productions can operate smoothly within Dubai. Established earlier this year, the committee plays a pivotal role in supporting film projects and enhancing Dubai’s reputation as a global film production destination.

The production of Ghost War was directed by Andrew Bernstein and produced by John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, and Andrew Form. The film was produced in collaboration with Paramount Pictures and Skydance, with executive producers including David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, John Kelly, Carlton Cuse, and the late Tom Clancy. The screenplay was crafted by Aaron Rabin and Krasinski, with the story developed by Noah Oppenheim and Krasinski.

Iconic Locations Featured in the Film

Dubai, one of five cities showcased in the film, provided a range of dynamic locations, skilled local talent, and advanced support services, making it a favored choice for major global productions. Key locations featured in Ghost War include Dubai Marina, Al Seef, One&Only One Za’abeel, desert landscapes, Emirates Towers, Gate Avenue in DIFC, and Burj Park.

The filming process in Dubai received support from various entities, including the Dubai Media Council, the Dubai Film Development Committee, Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Municipality, and Emirates Airline, along with several private sector organizations.
