ADFD Strengthens Lives of Over 1.3 Million Families Through Global Development Projects
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has announced significant advancements in its development initiatives, which have positively impacted over 1.3 million families and beneficiaries across various developing nations. This commitment underscores ADFD’s dedication to fostering sustainable socioeconomic development and building resilient communities through strategic investments.
ADFD’s Global Development Portfolio
ADFD’s extensive development portfolio spans Asia, Africa, and other regions, focusing on enhancing infrastructure, expanding access to essential services, and creating long-term economic opportunities. This announcement coincides with the UAE’s “Year of Family 2026,” which aims to strengthen family cohesion and promote inclusive communities as a foundation for sustainable development. The initiative reflects the UAE leadership’s vision of families as the cornerstone of stable and prosperous societies.
The Fund emphasizes that sustainable development is measured by its effectiveness in improving lives and generating long-term social and economic value for families and communities. Its financing covers vital sectors, including infrastructure, renewable energy, healthcare, agriculture, artificial intelligence, housing, and community development. These initiatives aim to expand opportunities, bolster resilience, and enhance the quality of life in developing nations.
Commitment to Family-Centric Development
His Excellency Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, highlighted the importance of families in building stable and prosperous societies. He stated that sustainable development financing is viewed as an investment in people, with each supported project aimed at enhancing the quality of life for families and enabling communities to thrive.
Al Suwaidi noted that ADFD’s commitment extends beyond mere infrastructure and capital deployment. It focuses on creating opportunities, strengthening resilience, and ensuring that development outcomes resonate at the family level, which is fundamental to every society. Access to energy, healthcare, education, transportation, and economic opportunities contributes to community resilience and national prosperity.
Empowering Communities Through Development Projects
ADFD’s initiatives are not limited to infrastructure and economic growth; they also create significant human impact. The Fund actively empowers women, supports children’s access to education and essential services, and aids families in establishing stable and sustainable livelihoods. Improved healthcare, access to clean energy and water, enhanced connectivity, and expanded economic opportunities contribute to building inclusive and resilient communities for both current and future generations.
These outcomes are evident in ADFD’s global development portfolio. In Laos, the Southern National Road No. 13 Development Project enhances connectivity, expands access to markets and essential services, and supports agricultural productivity. By improving transport efficiency and reducing travel time and logistics costs, the project is expected to benefit over 48,000 households annually, positively impacting more than 255,000 individuals and fostering broader economic opportunities.
In Togo, the Mohammed bin Zayed Solar Energy Complex is increasing access to clean and reliable energy for over 158,000 families and small businesses, thereby strengthening energy security and supporting sustainable growth. Across Liberia, Niger, and Togo, ADFD-supported renewable energy initiatives have collectively improved electricity access for approximately 750,000 families, enhancing resilience and quality of life.
In the Comoros, projects under the Mother of the Nation Development Programme have reached over 360,000 beneficiaries through initiatives focused on agriculture, food security, and community empowerment.
ADFD’s Ongoing Commitment to Sustainable Development
As global development priorities continue to evolve, ADFD remains steadfast in its commitment to financing projects that prioritize people, families, and community resilience at the heart of sustainable socioeconomic progress.
