Etihad Strengthens U.S. Network: Chicago Doubles Daily Flights, Charlotte Expands to Daily Service

Major Enhancements to North American Operations

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is set to enhance its presence in the United States with significant upgrades to its North American network. Starting June 15, 2026, the airline will transition its service to Chicago O’Hare International Airport to double-daily flights, while Charlotte Douglas International Airport will see its service increase from four times a week to daily flights. This expansion follows a successful launch of services to Charlotte on March 20, 2026.

These changes are designed to bolster connectivity between North America and high-growth markets in India and the Asia-Pacific region via Abu Dhabi. The enhancements will also improve access to the U.S. domestic network through partnerships with other airlines.

Expanded Flight Schedule and Aircraft Details

The new flight schedule will provide travelers with increased flexibility and seamless connections to major U.S. cities and beyond. Both Chicago and Charlotte routes will be serviced by Etihad’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which features 32 Business Class seats and 271 Economy Class seats.

Chicago: Twice Daily for Greater Connectivity

Chicago remains a pivotal gateway for Etihad in North America. The shift to double-daily service is expected to deepen connectivity and facilitate a broader range of one-stop journeys through Abu Dhabi to popular destinations across the airline’s network. This includes 11 gateways in India—such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai—as well as key Asia-Pacific cities like Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Manila.

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, emphasized the importance of Chicago in the airline’s U.S. network. He noted that the transition to double-daily flights reflects the route’s sustained performance and enhances flexibility for passengers while strengthening connections to significant markets.

Charlotte: Rapid Growth Following Successful Launch

Following the successful initiation of services in March, Etihad will elevate its Charlotte service to daily flights from June 15 until September 8, 2026. This rapid expansion is indicative of strong demand from both direct and connecting travelers, reinforcing Etihad’s long-term commitment to the Charlotte market.

The daily service will enhance connections between Charlotte and Etihad’s global network, allowing for efficient one-stop travel via Abu Dhabi to key destinations in India and the Asia-Pacific region. This expansion also supports inbound travel to the United States.

De expressed gratitude for the support from the Charlotte community since the launch. He remarked that the swift transition to daily service is a clear indication of the route’s growing traction and its potential role within the U.S. network. He added that the increase will bolster links between the Southeast U.S. and Etihad’s global network, facilitating both passenger and cargo flows.
