Federal Tax Authority Strengthens Governance with Third Consecutive Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply Certification

Dubai, UAE: FTA Achieves Prestigious Certification

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) of the UAE has announced that it has secured the “Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply” Certification for the third consecutive year. This certification, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), underscores the Authority’s commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, transparency, and governance in its procurement and supply chain operations.

The FTA is notable for being the first tax authority globally to receive this certification, which has also led to its inclusion in the Corporate Ethics Register. This recognition reinforces the FTA’s leadership in institutional governance and its alignment with international best practices.

Significance of the Certification

The Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply Certification is one of the most esteemed professional accreditations available to organizations that adhere to recognized standards of integrity and respect for human rights within their supply chains. The certification not only enhances governance frameworks but also contributes to sustainable development goals and fosters trust among partners.

H.E. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla, Director-General of the FTA, emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the Authority’s ongoing efforts to bolster institutional performance and governance practices. He noted that the certification reflects the FTA’s commitment to establishing an integrated operational framework grounded in professional ethics, compliance, and sustainability.

Commitment to Operational Excellence

H.E. Al Mulla highlighted the vital role played by the procurement and contracts team in achieving this certification over three consecutive cycles. Their efforts have significantly contributed to enhancing operational efficiency and institutional credibility on both regional and international fronts. The FTA’s strategy aims to adopt recognized international practices, promote corporate responsibility, and enhance transparency and efficiency in ways that align with national interests.

Jasim Haddad, Chief Executive Officer of the FTA’s Support Services Sector, remarked that the Authority’s consistent attainment of this certification reflects its dedication to advancing in the procurement and supply domain. He noted that this achievement underscores the FTA’s success in establishing a governance framework characterized by procedural efficiency and adherence to the highest professional standards.

Recognition of Individual Contributions

In addition to the organizational achievement, Sulaiman Abdullah, Director of Administrative Affairs at the FTA, received international professional Fellow-level accreditation for his contributions to enhancing procurement and supply processes. This accreditation is recognized as one of the highest professional certifications in the field.

Furthermore, the FTA acknowledged Mariam Saeed Al Ali for her graduation from the CIPS Practitioner Programme, a specialized initiative aimed at developing professional competencies in procurement and supply in accordance with international standards. This recognition reflects the Authority’s commitment to fostering national capabilities that contribute to institutional performance and efficiency.

About the Federal Tax Authority

The Federal Tax Authority was established by Federal Decree-Law No. 13 of 2016, with the aim of diversifying the national economy and increasing non-oil revenues in the UAE. The FTA manages and collects federal taxes based on international best practices and standards while providing support to taxpayers to ensure compliance with tax laws and procedures. Since its inception in 2017, the FTA has worked closely with relevant authorities to create a comprehensive and balanced system, positioning the UAE as one of the first countries globally to implement a fully electronic tax system. This system encourages voluntary compliance through streamlined procedures that emphasize transparency and accuracy, from registration to tax return submissions and payments via the Authority’s official website.
