Introduction

The World Governments Summit Organisation has unveiled the agenda for the eagerly anticipated World Governments Summit, which will take place from February 3rd to 5th, 2026. This year’s theme, “Shaping Future Governments,” reflects a commitment to addressing significant global changes and challenges while envisioning a framework for future governance.

A Meeting of Global Leaders

This summit is set to make history as it attracts an unprecedented crowd of over 6,250 influential figures, including more than 45 heads of state and government, over 500 ministers, and numerous decision-makers and thinkers from around the globe. The event underscores the urgency for collaboration among governments to tackle pressing global issues and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Comprehensive Agenda

The agenda for the summit is robust, featuring more than 445 sessions and 450 speakers, which include prominent heads of state, ministers, experts, and decision-makers. Among the participants are over 700 CEOs from major corporations and 87 Nobel laureates, who will gather to share insights and forge a path forward.

The extensive discussions are meant to provide clarity on the current global landscape, enabling governments to navigate their evolving roles more effectively. Importantly, the summit aims not just to identify challenges but to establish realistic solutions that foster prosperity and well-being in a fast-evolving world.

Key Themes for Discussion

This year’s summit will focus on five crucial themes:

  1. Global Governance and Effective Leadership
  2. Societal Wellbeing and Building Capacities
  3. Economic Prosperity and Strategic Investments
  4. Urban Futurism and Evolving Demographics
  5. Future Realities and Emerging Frontiers

In addition to these discussions, the summit will produce 36 strategic reports in collaboration with international knowledge partners and launch the third edition of the Global Ministers Survey, providing valuable insights into governance trends.

Recognizing Excellence in Governance

The World Governments Summit will also celebrate achievements in governance through various awards. Notable honors include the Best Minister Award in partnership with PwC, the Most Reformed Government Global Award with EY, and the Dubai International Best Practices Award for Sustainable Development, which is held in collaboration with UN-Habitat. These awards aim to inspire better governance worldwide and recognize those making impactful changes.

Evolving Leadership Roles

Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Chairman of the World Governments Summit Organisation, emphasized the summit’s relevance in today’s rapidly changing environment. He pointed out that the traditional roles of governments are undergoing a profound transformation, necessitating a proactive approach rather than a reactive one.

“Global crises continue to challenge the endurance of international cooperation,” Al Gergawi stated. “The importance of inclusive forums like the World Governments Summit cannot be overstated, as they foster collaboration, innovation, and shared action.”

Day 0 Activities

Prior to the official start of the summit, Day 0 on February 2nd will host several important forums, including the UAE-Kuwait Economic Forum and the Arab Fiscal Forum. This day is dedicated to strengthening economic ties and fostering partnerships, with influential speakers such as Mohamed Al Hussaini, UAE’s Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, addressing participants.

Features of Day 1

The first day of the summit will kick off with main addresses from high-profile leaders like Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, and Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain. Sessions will cover a variety of topics ranging from global trade to the future of tourism, allowing for a diverse exchange of ideas and strategies.

Day 2 Highlights

As the summit progresses, Day 2 will witness conversations led by notable figures such as H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait. Key discussions will touch upon the future of communication, artificial intelligence, and investments across various continents. This structure ensures that the discussions remain relevant to the current global landscape.

Concluding with Insight

Finally, the summit’s third day will culminate with keynote sessions addressing the digital economy and innovative governance. This day aims to crystallize the insights gained throughout the summit and encourage actionable outcomes that promote effective governance in an increasingly complex world.
