DUBAI – The much-anticipated Women’s Race is set to take place tomorrow as part of the 10th Al Salam Cycling Championship. This prestigious event will feature elite female cyclists from across the globe, showcasing their skills and determination.
A Decade of Achievement
Hosted by The Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, this year’s Championship is a special celebration dubbed ‘Ten Years of Achievements and Success.’ It underscores Dubai’s dedication to promoting women’s participation in sports while spotlighting top-tier cycling talent.
Record-Breaking Prize Purse
The Women’s Race boasts a stunning prize purse of Dh460,000—making it the largest globally for events of this nature. His Excellency Omair bin Juma Al Falasi, the Director General of The Private Office and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, noted that this significant prize reflects a commitment to excellence and serves as motivation for the competitors to perform at their best.
A Scenic 93-Kilometre Route
Participants in the race will navigate a challenging 93-kilometre course through the beautiful Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve in Saih Al Salam, one of Dubai’s top spots for cycling and outdoor activities. The race will kick off in front of Al Qudra Village, sending cyclists past a variety of natural and historical landmarks, all while enjoying the stunning desert landscape—a testament to Dubai’s sustainability efforts.
Al Marmoom is celebrated as one of the largest desert conservation areas globally, home to unique flora and fauna that promise an inspiring backdrop for both racers and spectators.
Marking a Milestone in the Championship Season
The Women’s Race is the third event in the ongoing 10th Championship season. The season commenced with the Emirati Men’s Amateur Race under the theme ‘Security and Safety,’ organized in partnership with Dubai Police. This was followed by the HH The Ruler of Dubai Court Race, which welcomed professional cyclists from various nations.
Upcoming events include the Desert Women’s Race on January 31 and the Desert Men’s Race on February 1, strengthening the Championship’s reputation as a leader in innovation and sporting excellence.
Collaborative Efforts to Enhance the Experience
The Al Salam Cycling Championship is facilitated through partnerships with numerous organizations, such as Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Sports Council, the Government of Dubai Media Office, Dubai Sports Channel, UAE Cycling Federation, and Dubai Film. This collaboration ensures seamless execution and highlights Dubai’s ongoing commitment to supporting premier sports events.
Photography Contest Adds Excitement
In addition to the thrilling races, a photography contest is also underway in collaboration with the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award. Participants will have the chance to capture the essence of the race through compelling images, with winners announced at the conclusion of the Championship season. This initiative not only encourages creativity but also further engages the community in the event.
