Weather Advisory: Fog, Dust, and Rising Tides Across the UAE
As we head into the coming days, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued an important warning for residents in the UAE regarding fluctuating weather conditions. Key elements to be aware of include intense fog, blowing dust, and significantly high sea tides, leading to rough conditions both in the air and at sea.
Current Weather Status
Today marks a transition period, with partly cloudy skies dominating and low clouds observed over various islands, as well as in some northern and eastern regions. For those planning to venture out, humidity is expected to increase overnight, alongside a chance of light fog or mist in coastal and inland areas tomorrow morning. Winds are predicted to be light to moderately strong, contributing to relatively calm sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
What’s Ahead: Temperature and Visibility Changes
Looking ahead to Tuesday, residents can expect more of the same, with fair to partly cloudy skies and the possibility of fog or mist during the early hours. Wind patterns will shift, transitioning from southeasterly to northeasterly. At times, winds may pick up and reach speeds of up to 35 km/h, although the sea will largely remain at low tide.
On Wednesday, humidity levels are expected to rise throughout the day and into the evening, particularly in northern regions where mist formation may occur. Winds will change direction from southeasterly to northwesterly, gaining strength and possibly reaching speeds of 40 km/h. Additionally, a notable change in sea conditions is anticipated, with moderate to rough tides expected in the Arabian Gulf.
Significant Weather Changes Coming
Thursday will bring a more dramatic shift in the weather. Expect to see a decrease in temperatures coupled with increasingly unstable conditions. Winds are likely to intensify, particularly over the sea, stirring up dust and sand, which could impair visibility in exposed areas. Wind speeds could soar to around 50 km/h, while sea conditions are predicted to be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough in the Oman Sea.
On Friday, forecasters anticipate further drops in temperature. Strong northwesterly winds will continue to raise dust, exacerbating visibility concerns. Wind speeds may even climb to 55 km/h, resulting in very rough conditions in the Arabian Gulf and rough seas in the Oman Sea.
Staying Safe During Unstable Conditions
Given the unpredictable and volatile nature of the weather forecast, all residents are strongly urged to remain vigilant, especially during the early morning hours when fog could significantly reduce visibility. Additionally, later in the week, those driving or engaging in marine activities should exercise caution due to the potential for hazardous conditions brought on by strong winds and high sea tides.
As the weather evolves, staying informed through reliable sources will be crucial to navigate these challenging conditions safely.
