The United Arab Emirates is gearing up for an unforgettable welcome to the New Year in 2026, promising a dazzling display of fireworks and light shows that will illuminate cities from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah. This grand celebration aims to showcase the UAE’s reputation as a hub for spectacular events, emphasizing safety and world-class entertainment.
Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba Festival
At the heart of the festivities, the Al Wathba area in Abu Dhabi will host one of the most impressive New Year’s Eve events in both the country and the wider region. The Supreme Organising Committee of the Sheikh Zayed Festival has finalized a comprehensive program designed to include the largest fireworks displays in the world alongside the biggest drone show ever seen. This blend of heritage, culture, and innovative technology will feature various country pavilions, sponsors, and strategic partners.
The fireworks show at Al Wathba will be a highlight, lasting over an hour and aiming to break five Guinness World Records. The spectacular event will kick off at 8:00 PM, culminating in a breathtaking 62-minute continuous display at midnight. With cutting-edge launch and visual synchronization technologies, the night sky is set to be transformed into a canvas of awe-inspiring visuals.
Drone Show Extravaganza
As part of this unique celebration, attendees can look forward to a mesmerizing drone show featuring 6,500 drones flying in unison for 20 minutes. This unprecedented performance will create nine stunning artistic visuals, perfectly aligned with the countdown to midnight and the accompanying fireworks.
Dubai’s Skyline Celebration
In Dubai, residents and visitors will experience a stunning array of over 48 fireworks displays spread across 40 locations. The Security Industry Regulatory Agency is overseeing these events to ensure they meet the highest safety standards. Celebratory spots will include iconic landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, and the Dubai Frame, among others.
The Dubai Shopping Festival will also host the region’s largest aerial drone show at Bluewaters Island and The Beach JBR. This feature will showcase cutting-edge, brighter drones performing intricate formations complemented by impressive fire effects, adding a unique flair to the festivities.
Ras Al Khaimah’s Record-Setting Attempt
Ras Al Khaimah is preparing a spectacular fireworks display, aiming to set a new Guinness World Record. Spanning six kilometers from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra Island, this 15-minute display will incorporate advanced fireworks, illuminated drones, and laser shows. More than 2,300 drones will participate, with the grand finale featuring the launch of the largest fireworks shell ever witnessed at midnight.
Sharjah’s Inclusive Festivities
In Sharjah, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has collaborated with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority to deliver an exciting range of programmes. Festivities will include ten-minute fireworks displays at popular sites such as Al Majaz Waterfront and Al Khorfakkan Beach. Six festive destinations, including Al Noor Island and Mleiha National Park, will also contribute to the celebratory atmosphere.
All events are scheduled to take place on the evening of December 31, 2025, beginning at 8:00 PM. The displays will be free and accessible to the public, allowing everyone to partake in the joyous celebrations marking the arrival of the New Year.
