Dubai Prepares for a Spectacular New Year’s Eve 2026
The Dubai Event Security Committee (ESC) has declared its full readiness for the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations, highlighting meticulous planning to ensure the event aligns with Dubai’s renowned standard for world-class festivities. This announcement came during a press briefing held at the Dubai Civil Defence headquarters, where officials from various government and partner organizations discussed security measures and operational strategies.
Extensive Fireworks Displays
This year’s festivities will feature an impressive array of fireworks, taking place at 40 different locations throughout the emirate, totaling 48 shows. Notable spots include the iconic Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, and other memorable venues like Expo City Dubai and Dubai Parks and Resorts. The displays aim to create an unforgettable experience for both locals and visitors.
Unified Security Measures
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the ESC and Assistant Commander in Chief of Dubai Police for Operations, emphasized collaboration among 55 entities from government, semi-government, and the private sector. The emirate has been segmented into four operational sectors—North, Central, West, and Marine—for optimum coordination and service delivery.
To cater to attendees’ needs, 37 support tents will be strategically placed at celebration sites. These tents will offer various services, including police assistance, first aid, and logistical support, as well as addressing lost and found inquiries and the care of lost children.
Public Cooperation is Key
Major General Al Mazrouei encouraged the public to heed safety instructions before, during, and after the event. Community members are urged to cooperate with police personnel and follow traffic regulations to prevent congestion. For emergencies, residents can reach out via 999, while non-urgent queries can be directed to 901. Police officers will be stationed throughout the venues for immediate assistance.
In an inclusive move, dedicated viewing areas featuring large screens and meals have been arranged for workers, ensuring they also have the opportunity to partake in the celebrations.
Robust Police Deployment
Dubai Police has mobilized nearly 10,000 officers and over 1,600 patrol vehicles to oversee the festivities. The security initiative will also see the deployment of marine rescue boats, bicycles, and mounted patrols to provide comprehensive coverage across land and sea.
Major General Al Mazrouei recognized the dedication of all members involved in organizing the event, wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable New Year.
Fire and Rescue Preparedness
Major General Expert Ali Hassan Al Mutawa of Dubai Civil Defence confirmed that extensive preparations for the celebrations are complete. A contingent of 1,754 firefighters, including officers and support personnel, will be on standby across multiple locations to ensure a swift and effective response to any emergencies.
The celebration venues are categorized into five main sectors to facilitate effective emergency management. Additionally, over 300 vital facilities have been inspected for safety compliance, and a fleet of specialized vehicles, including marine firefighting boats, is ready for deployment.
Traffic Management and Public Transport
Hussain Al Banna, CEO of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), detailed plans for traffic management and public transit during the event, particularly around the Burj Khalifa and Downtown areas. Joint teams are poised to monitor traffic flow and transport operations throughout the New Year’s Eve schedule from a Unified Control Centre.
The RTA has observed a consistent increase in public transport usage during New Year’s celebrations, with over 2.5 million users last year. To accommodate the anticipated surge, the traffic plan includes major road closures beginning at 4 PM, along with significant expansions leading up to the peak hours of celebration.
Ambulance Services Stand Ready
The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services has also confirmed its operational readiness for the celebrations. Teams will be deployed across high-density areas, providing immediate care and support. A total of 236 ambulance points will be activated, backed by a diverse fleet and a team of well-trained personnel.
Residents with chronic health conditions are particularly encouraged to follow official safety guidelines and ensure they carry necessary medications during the festivities.
Comprehensive Health Services
Khalifa Baqer from Dubai Health has assured that a proactive healthcare plan is in place. Six hospitals and four external clinics are on high alert, with a field hospital established near the Burj Khalifa. Healthcare services will be available 24/7 to ensure continuous medical support throughout the celebrations.
A Cleaner, Safer Environment
Dubai Municipality has activated readiness plans, focusing on public safety, health, and waste management during the event. Public parks and beaches will be designated for family-friendly gatherings, further enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.
Community and Volunteer Engagement
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri announced the response to volunteer opportunities within Dubai Police, highlighting that over 1,800 individuals have signed up. This support underscores the partnership between the community and local authorities, further enhancing security during the festivities.
In the days leading up to New Year’s Eve, ESC officials expressed gratitude for the dedication of field teams and reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe and memorable celebration for everyone involved.
