## Etihad Airways Kicks Off 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a Spectacular Flypast

Etihad Airways set the stage for the much-anticipated 2025 Formula 1® Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with an impressive low-altitude flypast over the Yas Marina Circuit. Flying at 500 feet, this stunning aerial display has become a cherished tradition, marking the beginning of the final race in one of the largest sport-and-entertainment events in the region.

### A Colorful Tribute by the Al Fursan Aerobatic Team

Accompanying the mighty Airbus A380 was the Al Fursan Aerobatic Team, leaving trails of red, green, and black across the sky—colors symbolic of the UAE flag. This vibrant show added an extra layer of national pride to the festivities, captivating the eyes of the race attendees as well as viewers around the world.

The flypast was expertly executed by Etihad’s seasoned pilots, led by Captain Adel Al Zubaidi. He was joined in the cockpit by Captain Azizan Bin Othman, Captain Harris Kynigos, and Captain Abdulla Alafeefi. The timing was meticulously coordinated to coincide with the transition from sunset to the onset of floodlights at the Yas Marina Circuit, enhancing the overall experience of race day.

### A Personal Connection to the Tradition

Captain Adel Al Zubaidi expressed his deep admiration for the experience, stating, “Yas Marina Circuit is incredible from the air, and we know tens of thousands of people are watching. It’s a very special moment to represent my country and pass over the track just after the national anthem plays.” This year’s flypast marked his eighth occasion executing this memorable maneuver, having initially piloted the first Etihad-branded A340 during the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix flypast in 2009.

### The Grand Prix Experience and Etihad’s Role

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, highlighted the significance of the event, remarking, “The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is one of the most exhilarating times in Abu Dhabi, attracting thousands of international visitors from around the world.” He noted that the flypast is a longstanding tradition, beginning with the inaugural race in 2009, and emphasized the airline’s pride in showcasing the Etihad livery over such a magnificent circuit.

As a title partner of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Etihad Airways played a crucial role in bringing fans together from nearly 90 global destinations. For Etihad Guest members, exclusive trackside hospitality was available, enhancing the overall spectator experience. In addition, the F1 Village featured various Etihad activations, including a culinary showcase, family-friendly activities, and simulator experiences designed for Grand Prix visitors to enjoy.
