Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Unveils the Fourth Edition of Sculpture Park
A New Artistic Journey Awaits
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has announced the launch of the fourth edition of the DIFC Sculpture Park, aptly named “Enduring Forms.” This open-air gallery, set to open to the public on November 26, will showcase over 50 works by 27 artists. The theme invites visitors to examine the origins of art, which begins with raw materials and leaves lasting impressions on culture and society.
A Commitment to Community and Development
In conjunction with the Sculpture Park’s launch, DIFC is collaborating with Dubai Cares to further their Sculpting Futures initiative, which was introduced during the park’s previous edition. This initiative aims to elevate youth skills globally in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
A standout piece, created by artists Sawsan Al Bahar and Bahar Al Bahar in partnership with Firetti Contemporary Gallery, symbolizes the broader mission of this initiative. The DIFC corporate community has made significant strides, raising Dhs 1,000,000 to support this endeavor.
Lasting Impressions on Art and Culture
Notably, contributions made to the Sculpting Futures initiative will be permanently inscribed onto the sculpture’s surface. Initially displayed under the DIFC Gate Building, the artwork will eventually find its permanent home at DIFC Square upon the initiative’s completion in 2026.
The Sculpture Park will also feature works from a diverse group of international artists, including Anna Chekh, Jerzy Kedziora, Anetta Szabo, Matti Sirvio, Mustafa Aykurt, and Evelyn Brader-Frank. Emirati artist Mustafa Khamash adds his own cultural touch with “Wings of Unity,” a stunning abstract falcon inspired by the UAE flag.
Accessibility for All
For art lovers, students, and families, the DIFC Sculpture Park offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with contemporary art. Best of all, entry is free, making it an inclusive cultural experience for the entire community.
Highlighting Recent Art Events
Earlier this month, DIFC Art Nights celebrated its 20th edition, featuring an astonishing array of over 200 artworks from more than 150 artists spanning more than 100 nationalities. It served as a melting pot of ideas and creativity, sparking connections among thought leaders and the community alike.
Over its four-night duration, this milestone event transformed DIFC’s outdoor spaces into a vibrant arena of art and culture. A noteworthy highlight was the immersive FADA’ experience by Elevision, in collaboration with kanvas and curated by Astrid Lesuisse, which captivated attendees with a light and motion spectacular.
Engaging Installations and Live Art
In addition to the fixed installations, the event offered live painting performances by Phoenix Art Group, solidifying its reputation as a vibrant platform for artistic expression. One artist, Nour Bazarbashi, mesmerized audiences with a live mural demonstration.
Digital artistry also took center stage at the event, with five remarkable showcases, including the UAE premiere of “Nowadeus” by Tim Christie & The Grid. This digital presentation impressed attendees with a fusion of visuals and storytelling, pushing the boundaries of conventional art.
Showcasing Local Talent
In addition to international artworks, the DIFC Art Nights highlighted local talents such as Faezeh M. Hassan and Dr. Suaad Alshamsi, ensuring a rich representation of UAE culture. Resident galleries brought an added layer of depth, featuring pieces from renowned artists like Daniel Arsham and Daniel Hourde.
Anna Chekh: A Symbol of Cultural Dialogue
Among the participating artists, Anna Chekh’s contributions were particularly striking. Her series “Shadow Horses” features a three-headed sculpture that encapsulates the essence of heritage and future aspirations, resonating with the cultural values of the UAE.
Chekh’s creative reach expanded to functional art as well, introducing a sculptural bedside lamp inspired by her famed Shadow Man character. This innovative blend of art and utility showcases her evolving design philosophy.
A Booming Market for Contemporary Art
Chekh’s prominence has surged, having recently auctioned a version of the Shadow Man for Dhs 39,000 at the Museum of The Future in Dubai. The large sculpture is currently on display at Sculpture Hamptons in New York and will be featured at the 2026 Venice Biennale.
Through her involvement at DIFC Art Nights, Anna Chekh continues to champion a blend of art, design, and cultural conversation, reinforcing her role in the global art scene. This latest Art Nights edition also received support from several reputable organizations, including Christies and Dubai Culture, showcasing a united front for the arts in Dubai.
In summary, the DIFC Sculpture Park and recent Art Nights are pivotal in enhancing Dubai’s cultural landscape, offering enriching experiences for both residents and visitors alike.
