Yango Group and Etihad Rail Forge Partnership for Enhanced Mobility

Yango Group has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Etihad Rail, announced during the second edition of the Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition & Conference held in Abu Dhabi. This collaboration aims to integrate Yango’s ride-hailing services into the passenger rail experience, enhancing connectivity for travelers across the UAE.

A New Framework for Integrated Travel

The MoU sets the groundwork for a partnership that focuses on operations at and around Etihad Rail stations. By combining Yango’s ride-hailing capabilities with Etihad Rail’s upcoming passenger services, the two companies are working towards creating a seamless travel experience. This initiative is particularly significant as it prepares for the launch of passenger services in 2026.

Commitment to Sustainable Mobility

Azza Alsuwaidi, Deputy CEO of Etihad Rail Mobility, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “This partnership with Yango Group reflects our commitment to delivering an integrated and sustainable mobility ecosystem.” The collaboration aims to set new standards for safe, reliable, and convenient travel throughout the UAE, ensuring that passengers can enjoy a smooth transition from rail to road.

Enhancing Passenger Experience

The partnership will focus on several key areas to improve the overall passenger experience. This includes establishing designated pick-up and drop-off zones, streamlining vehicle entry and exit processes, and implementing traffic management strategies during peak hours to alleviate congestion. These measures are designed to make travel more efficient and user-friendly for all passengers.

Digital Integration for Seamless Travel

The MoU also outlines plans for a second phase that will explore the integration of both companies’ digital platforms. This integration will allow passengers to plan and book their journeys more effectively. For instance, travelers will be able to purchase rail tickets through the Yango app or book Yango rides via Etihad Rail’s digital channels. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive platform for travel planning and payment, making it easier for users to navigate their journeys.

Future of Rail Travel in the UAE

Etihad Rail’s passenger service, set to launch in 2026, will connect 11 cities and regions across various emirates. The trains are designed to accommodate up to 400 passengers and will operate at speeds reaching 200 km/h. By 2030, the projected ridership is expected to hit 36.5 million annually, highlighting the growing demand for efficient public transport solutions in the region.

Yango Group’s Global Reach

Yango Group brings significant experience to this partnership, having completed over 1.2 billion trips with 2.1 million registered partner drivers across more than 30 countries. Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head of Yango Group Middle East, noted, “Partnering with Etihad Rail allows us to bring advanced mobility technology to one of the region’s most ambitious transport projects.” This collaboration aims to promote a shift towards rail and shared mobility, enhancing connectivity between emirates for both residents and visitors.

Public Transport Trends in Dubai

According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), public transport, shared mobility, and taxi services in Dubai served approximately 395.3 million riders in the first half of 2025. This statistic underscores the increasing reliance on public transport options in the region, making the partnership between Yango Group and Etihad Rail a timely and strategic move.

Building an Integrated Transportation Ecosystem

The collaboration between Yango Group and Etihad Rail marks a significant step towards establishing an integrated transportation ecosystem in the UAE. By combining rail and ride-hailing services, the partnership aims to enhance mobility options for all, paving the way for a more connected and efficient future in public transport.
