Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) recently celebrated a significant milestone with an exclusive media event held in Dubai to announce the upcoming debut of its newest ship, Norwegian Luna. This event underscored NCL’s deepening commitment to the Middle East and Africa (MEA) markets, highlighting the cruise line’s strategic focus on enhancing its presence in these rapidly growing regions.
Leading the event was Kevin Bubolz, NCL’s Vice President and Managing Director for Continental Europe, Middle East & Africa, alongside Rebecca Ransom, NCL’s Business Development Manager for the MEA region. Together they welcomed prominent figures from Dubai’s media landscape, including Sarah Hedley Hymers, Editorial Director of Connecting Travel, and Adam Rawcliffe, International Sales Manager. Bubolz emphasized Dubai’s unique position as a forward-thinking city synonymous with innovation and connection, values that NCL embraces across its operations. He confidently shared that Norwegian Luna’s expansive design and guest-focused service will appeal strongly to travelers from the Middle East.
Norwegian Luna is a Prima Plus class vessel, crafted to offer contemporary comfort and maximize ocean views for up to 3,571 guests. The ship draws inspiration from its sister ship, Norwegian Aqua, and is set to embark on its inaugural transatlantic crossing on 10 March 2026. Afterward, it will be based in Miami, offering year-round Caribbean itineraries to multiple signature destinations.
The ship’s accommodations include 123 luxurious suites, with standout options such as spacious three-bedroom duplex suites that come with 24/7 butler and concierge service. For guests choosing The Haven by Norwegian, a private enclave onboard, there are exclusive perks such as access to a dedicated restaurant and bar, a tranquil sun deck featuring an infinity pool, hot tubs, a sauna, and even a cold room for ultimate relaxation.
Dining options onboard Norwegian Luna are varied and extensive, catering to diverse tastes. Entertainment is a key highlight, with a state-of-the-art theatre that transforms into a vibrant nightclub after dark. Fans of thrilling experiences will be excited by the return of the Aqua Slidecoaster—a unique attraction combining a waterslide with rollercoaster excitement. Wellness amenities are equally impressive with the two-storey Mandara Spa offering features such as an indoor waterfall, hot and cold therapy circuits, IV Drip Therapy, and a thermal suite complete with favorites like a charcoal sauna and salt room.
Beyond Norwegian Luna itself, NCL shared exciting updates about enhancements to its destination offerings. Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas, is undergoing a major transformation expected to roll out over the next year. Upcoming upgrades include a new multi-ship pier, a heated pool featuring swim-up bars, and the addition of a tram service set for 2025. The following year will see the highly anticipated launch of Great Tides Waterpark, boasting 19 waterslides and a lazy river. Additionally, luxurious new cabanas, a Vibe Shore Club, and Hammock Bay will cater to guests looking for relaxation and exclusive experiences.
Rebecca Ransom highlighted the enthusiastic response from partners across the MEA region, noting the media event in Dubai as a strategic moment to reinforce NCL’s long-term dedication to the market. She pointed out that the enhancements in onboard experiences, like those in The Haven, coupled with destination upgrades at Great Stirrup Cay, are thoughtfully designed to meet evolving guest preferences.
Complementing its efforts in the Middle East and Africa, NCL is also expanding its European presence. The Norwegian Viva will operate in 2025 with itineraries that emphasize longer port stays and exploration of diverse locations such as Barcelona and Rome.
