Dubai to Convene Decision-Makers and Experts for Inaugural Environment Conference & Exhibition, 7-8 September 2026
Dubai is set to host the inaugural Dubai Environment Conference & Exhibition 2026 (DECE) on 7–8 September 2026, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The event will take place at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, centered around the theme “Protecting Our Environment… Securing Our Future.”
This significant gathering aims to unite key stakeholders to foster environmental dialogue and climate action at both national and regional levels. The conference and exhibition will further solidify Dubai’s status as a global hub for sustainability and environmental innovation.
Supporting UAE’s Environmental Objectives
DECE 2026 aligns with the UAE’s broader environmental and sustainability goals, including the National Climate Change Plan 2017–2050, the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy, the National Green Agenda 2030, the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
The event will bring together decision-makers, representatives from government and private sectors, as well as environmental experts and specialists. Participants will engage in panel discussions, research presentations, and expert-led sessions that will address key environmental and climate challenges. His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Director General of the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, emphasized the importance of the conference, stating that it will gather leading specialists in sustainability and environmental protection from across the UAE and the wider region. He noted that the inaugural edition of DECE reflects Dubai’s commitment to enhancing environmental protection and climate action, which are crucial for the emirate’s sustainable growth.

DECE 2026 is designed to serve as a platform for collaboration among government and private-sector entities, academic institutions, and environmental experts. The conference will facilitate knowledge exchange, establish partnerships, and identify practical responses to urgent environmental and climate challenges.

Six Key Themes of Focus
The conference will revolve around six key themes that reflect Dubai’s environmental priorities: biodiversity, natural resources, food security, climate change, the circular economy, and environmental artificial intelligence.
The Biodiversity theme will delve into environmental protection, conservation, and habitat restoration, addressing future challenges and opportunities while highlighting the community’s role in safeguarding nature.
The Natural Resources theme will focus on preserving air, soil, and water quality. Specialized sessions will examine their impact on human health and ecosystems, along with necessary measures for their protection.
The Food Security theme will analyze Dubai’s food security strategy and key initiatives supporting sustainable supply chains. Discussions will also cover food loss and waste, as well as public-private partnerships aimed at bolstering local production.
The Climate Change theme will investigate efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance climate adaptation and resilience. It will also explore the roles of partnerships, innovative financing models, and artificial intelligence in advancing climate action.
The Circular Economy theme will review best practices in waste, water, and packaging management, alongside the economic opportunities arising from the transition to a circular economy and approaches to electronic waste recycling.
Lastly, the Environmental Artificial Intelligence theme will assess how advanced technologies can aid in water resource management, monitor coastal and green areas, analyze environmental changes, and enhance data collection to inform decision-making and future planning.
Leading the Environmental Agenda
The Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority spearheads the environmental and climate change agenda, working to mitigate the impacts of climate change and adapt to its effects in alignment with the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy and other national and local environmental agendas.
Established under Law No. (11) of 2024, the Authority is dedicated to protecting the environment and enhancing sustainability through various priorities, including conserving biodiversity, protecting marine and terrestrial environments, enhancing food security, supporting the transition to a circular economy, and promoting the sustainable use of resources.
The Authority’s decisions are grounded in data-driven, science-based policies and emphasize strategic partnerships through collaboration with government, business, academia, and the community, thereby supporting the achievement of Dubai’s sustainability targets and reinforcing its status as a global model for environmental and climate action.
