India’s Gen Z Cockroach Janta Party Strengthens Movement After Minister’s Resignation, Focuses on Exam Leaks and Youth Concerns
CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Gen Z Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in India has declared its intention to remain a grassroots movement following the resignation of a minister amid protests over exam paper leaks. The party’s founder, Abhijeet Dipke, emphasized that there are no immediate plans to enter electoral politics, prioritizing instead the concerns of young Indians regarding job opportunities and institutional accountability.
Dipke led nationwide demonstrations that originated in Delhi, culminating in the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 25. These protests highlighted the frustrations of young people facing high unemployment rates despite the country’s economic growth. Dipke stated that the CJP aims to consult with Gen Z on the issues they wish to prioritize, indicating that supporters will convene for two days to outline the party’s agenda and next steps.
He expressed skepticism about forming a political party at this time, suggesting that a public movement is more necessary for restoring trust in institutions. Dipke noted the importance of understanding the needs of young people, many of whom feel disillusioned with the political landscape, judiciary, and media.

After a 36-day protest, Dipke returned to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where he was welcomed by hundreds of supporters. His activism gained momentum after he called for protests against medical exam leaks, which mobilized tens of thousands in Delhi. Following the protests, the government has proposed stricter legal penalties for exam leaks and established a panel to review the examination system, which is crucial for securing jobs for millions of students.
Dipke indicated that he is cautious about forming a political party, fearing that the government might attempt to undermine it through investigations. He also dismissed the idea of aligning with any political party, despite overtures from opposition groups looking to capitalize on the protests against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Young Voters Could Show Anger at Polls
Political analysts suggest that upcoming elections could serve as a litmus test for young voters’ sentiments, particularly in populous states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat. While immediate state elections may not significantly impact the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the general elections in 2029 could pose a greater challenge if the CJP evolves into a formal political entity.
Analyst Amitabh Tiwari noted that while the current protests may not severely affect the BJP in state elections, they could become a more significant factor in future elections. If the CJP continues to advocate for youth issues and maintains its momentum, it could potentially garner substantial support.
At Dipke’s residence, security has been heightened due to social media threats following his rise to prominence, which has seen the CJP amass 22 million followers on Instagram in a short span. Despite the attention, Dipke expressed concern for his parents’ safety and appreciated the security measures provided by the government.
