His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council (DMC), has announced the launch of a new business media platform named ‘Dubai Business’. This initiative, approved during a recent council meeting, aims to enhance Dubai’s competitiveness and establish the emirate as a global hub for innovation and content creation. The platform is set to operate under Dubai Media Incorporated and is part of a broader strategy to communicate Dubai’s economic vision to international audiences.
The launch of ‘Dubai Business’ aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, reflecting the city’s growing status as a leading global economic center. Sheikh Ahmed emphasized the need for a media platform that can keep pace with Dubai’s rapid growth and effectively convey its achievements to the world. He stated that the new platform will highlight Dubai’s economic success, track global shifts, and showcase opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs.

Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, stated that the launch of ‘Dubai Business’ is part of the ongoing development of Dubai Media Incorporated. She highlighted that Dubai currently leads global competitiveness indicators across economic sectors, driven by its role as a major hub for global trade and a center for business and financial services.
Focus on Gaming Sector
The meeting also reviewed the agenda for the upcoming “Gaming Retreat,” scheduled for next week. This event will explore significant opportunities in the gaming sector, featuring participation from leading local and global gaming companies. The retreat aims to build on the Dubai Media Council’s efforts to develop a comprehensive and globally competitive gaming ecosystem in Dubai, facilitated through the Dubai Films and Games Commission and the Dubai Gaming Committee.
Her Excellency Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, remarked that Dubai is committed to building a future-ready media ecosystem that supports its economic ambitions and long-term vision for sustainable growth. She emphasized that media serves as a strategic enabler of development, playing a crucial role in enhancing Dubai’s global position and attracting investment and talent.

Badri also noted that the Council is focusing on high-growth sectors such as gaming, which has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar global industry. She asserted that Dubai possesses the foundational strengths necessary to establish itself as a leading international gaming hub.
Recent Media Retreat Outcomes
Additionally, the meeting discussed the outcomes of a recent Media Retreat that brought together key figures and decision-makers from various sectors, including advertising, marketing, film, gaming, and digital media. This retreat aimed to shape the next phase of the industry’s growth and enhance future readiness, with over 100 executives discussing ways to improve key growth drivers such as infrastructure, talent development, regulation, innovation, and investment.
The meeting was attended by Council members, including Her Excellency Aisha Miran, His Excellency Malek Al Malek, Her Excellency Hala Badri, His Excellency Mohammed Al Mulla, His Excellency Younus Al Nasser, His Excellency Arif Amiri, and His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul.
