Dubai Press Club Strengthens Digital Storytelling Skills in Third Phase of ‘Dubai Content Creators Programme’
Dubai Press Club (DPC), in partnership with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, has successfully concluded the third phase of the ‘Dubai Content Creators Programme.’ This initiative, held from June 8 to 19, aimed to enhance participants’ skills in digital cultural storytelling and equip them with advanced tools for creating high-quality content that reflects Dubai’s identity and cultural landscape.
The programme attracted content creators and individuals interested in the cultural and creative sectors, offering an intensive training experience that included practical workshops, interactive sessions, and hands-on training. Participants developed their ideas and strengthened their capabilities to produce impactful cultural content suitable for various digital platforms.
Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, emphasized the programme’s role in fostering media and creative talent. She stated that the initiative aims to provide practical learning experiences that allow participants to understand the unique nature of cultural content. The goal is to transform local stories tied to Dubai’s identity into compelling digital narratives that resonate with audiences through innovative formats.
Wedad Kahoor, Section Head of Media Talent Development at the Dubai Press Club, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the programme. It combined theoretical knowledge with practical application, covering all stages of content creation, from idea development and storytelling to production, publishing, and impact assessment. Kahoor noted that the workshops were tailored to meet the evolving needs of cultural content creators, addressing areas such as content production, photography, editing, and the use of artificial intelligence tools.
Workshops and Sessions
The second week of the programme featured a series of specialized workshops that built on the foundational skills established in the first week. One notable workshop, ‘Creative Content Production,’ focused on documenting Dubai’s cultural spaces using advanced photography and videography techniques. Participants learned about visual storytelling, documenting cultural landmarks, art exhibitions, and heritage sites, as well as producing professional multi-platform content.
Additionally, a practical workshop on digital content creation tools provided hands-on training in photography, lighting, audio recording, and editing. Participants utilized professional cameras and specialized lighting equipment, learned techniques for enhancing audio quality, and explored professional editing practices, including the application of artificial intelligence in post-production workflows.
Another session, titled ‘Cultural Content in a Contemporary Style,’ examined real-world experiences in cultural content creation. This session discussed how local ideas can be transformed into impactful digital content with broad reach, highlighting key success factors and audience engagement strategies.
In a session led by Emirati director Mohammed Saeed Harib, participants explored ‘Digital Cultural Storytelling: Transforming Heritage into Impactful Content.’ This session focused on identifying cultural stories within Emirati society and converting them into engaging digital narratives that reflect national identity while appealing to contemporary audiences.
Additional workshops included ‘The Camera Never Lies,’ which aimed to build confidence and professionalism in front of the camera, helping creators enhance their personal presence to deliver more engaging content.
The programme concluded with a workshop titled ‘Transforming Culture into Impactful Digital Content.’ This session focused on enabling participants to convert local cultural elements into creative digital content that reflects identity and values through contemporary storytelling formats. Techniques for simplifying cultural concepts and presenting them effectively through visual and written content across digital platforms were also explored.
The cultural track of the programme builds on the success of previous phases, which addressed specialized content areas such as economic, health, and scientific content, in collaboration with government entities and strategic partners. This initiative is part of DPC’s ongoing efforts to cultivate skilled creators capable of producing specialized and responsible content that aligns with the rapidly changing digital media landscape.
