UAE Residents Strengthen Commitment to Nation Through Personal Pledge Initiative

Dubai: The UAE’s Pledge and Commitment initiative, launched on May 19 by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, has resonated deeply with residents, both long-term and new expats. The initiative allows individuals to express their appreciation for the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, particularly in the realms of national security, social cohesion, and stability.

Completing the pledge online takes less than a minute, yet for many, it represents a significant moment of reflection on the opportunities, security, and sense of belonging they have found in the UAE.

Personal Reflections on Commitment

Errol Gonsalves, a 39-year-old media professional and content creator, articulated the sentiments shared by many. He emphasized the trust he has in Dubai’s leadership and his admiration for the nation’s values. Gonsalves likened the UAE to a university for life skills, stating that it has taught him to dream, grow, and appreciate life. He noted that the leadership consistently promotes a winning mindset, fostering an environment where everyone feels equal and valued.

Having moved to the UAE four years ago, Gonsalves recalled his initial visit in 2021 for the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which ultimately led him to pursue a career in the radio industry. He expressed that living in Dubai is transformative, making it difficult to envision life elsewhere.

A Sense of Belonging

Mohamed Salim Allawi, a 46-year-old communications consultant from Egypt, echoed similar sentiments regarding the pledge. After 22 years in the UAE, he described the country as his true home, where he has built a career and formed lasting connections across diverse cultures. Allawi expressed gratitude for the UAE’s leadership, which inspires him to contribute positively to society. He highlighted the nation’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and human well-being as motivating factors for residents.

Opportunities for Growth

Saher Suthriwala, a 25-year-old digital marketing freelancer born and raised in Dubai, emphasized the unique opportunities available in the UAE. She noted that the country has fostered a vibrant community, particularly for young professionals. Suthriwala highlighted the emergence of new career paths, especially in content creation, as a reflection of the UAE’s dynamic environment.

She also discussed her personal journey, which began with an internship in a media house and evolved into freelancing, facilitated by the ease of obtaining a business license. Suthriwala expressed her gratitude for the safety and opportunities that the UAE provides, stating that it has shaped her identity and career.

Cultural Development and Community Spirit

Reflecting on her experiences growing up in Dubai, Suthriwala remarked on the significant developments in the city, particularly at Al Mamzar Beach. She noted that Dubai continually demonstrates that imagination knows no bounds, citing the success of Expo 2020 as an example of the UAE’s ability to celebrate diverse cultures and foster global connections.

As an Indian national, Suthriwala’s appreciation for the UAE has intensified, especially in light of recent regional tensions. She observed that the sense of safety and security in the UAE has become even more valued among residents.

In summary, the Pledge and Commitment initiative has provided a platform for UAE residents to express their gratitude and commitment to the nation. The personal reflections shared by individuals highlight the profound impact that the UAE has had on their lives, careers, and sense of belonging.
